About “Cold Knife Records”

I remember it like it was yesterday.

We used to sit in my room in the evening and blast through one album after another at deafening volume. We did that almost every week back then. We didn't talk, we drank beer and drove the neighbors crazy with old heavy metal. Judas Priest, Motörhead, Saxon, Maiden, Candlmass, Morbid, Sarcofago, Tormentor...

From vinyl or overdubbed cassette. One worn-out demo after another, one classic after the next. The only rule: keep your mouth shut while the music bangs. Maybe give a knowing nod. Then something happened that we will never forget. One of us had managed to rescue a box of records and demo cassettes from a household clear-out/collector's clear-out somewhere.

Most of it nobody knew. Cheapest airbrush or self-painted and copied demo covers. Some of the band names were illegible. But everything breathed the spirit of ancient metal. I reverently reached into the box and grabbed a record. To this day, we all agree that it was dead quiet and at the same time there was something solemn in the air when I put the vinyl on the turntable. Tyrann, from Chile. 1982.

It crackled from the speakers, the crackling turned into a hiss, almost meditative. And then an inferno was unleashed, the likes of which we have never heard before. More brutal than Sarcofago, more anthemic than Blitzkrieg, harder than Priest-Steel.

Less than half an hour later, we were staring at each other, mumbling against the rule and typing on our cell phones, searching, searching for information, for something. Who or what was that. But we found nothing, absolutely nothing. The album was called “Cold knife kills”!

The rest is history.

A new battlefield, a new project, a new channel for a passion for more traditional metal sounds, a passion that had to take a back seat for a long time. As part of Supreme Chaos Records in Ibbenbüren, we have the opportunity to bring you releases to which we ourselves raise our fist to the sky. Heavy metal that brings the past into this millennium.
