About the album
Cold Knife will re-release the forgotten 1985 classic “Caught in the Trap” by the Swedish Lynx, on vinyl of course.
Every once in a while, a treasure of the metal underground resurfaces, and “Caught in the Trap” by Lynx is exactly that. Originally released in 1985, this Swedish band’s sole album captures the essence of the 80s metal spirit: soaring vocals, sharp-edged riffs, pounding rhythms, and that unmistakable touch of synthesizer that gives it a unique charm. Inspired by legends like Deep Purple and rooted in the melodic energy of the NWOBHM, Lynx carved out their place in the Scandinavian heavy metal scene. Their music is a perfect blend of melodic hard rock and driving heavy metal, appealing to fans who appreciate both precision and power.
Despite its undeniable quality, “Caught in the Trap” remained a hidden gem for decades. Songs like “My Own Way” and “Man Without a Face” showcase the band’s ability to craft anthemic tracks with introspective depth, while “Master of Evil” and “Final Race” deliver relentless energy. Unfortunately, the band dissolved shortly after the album’s release, leaving this masterpiece largely undiscovered by the wider metal audience. But the legacy of Lynx has endured among collectors and die-hard fans, who have kept the album’s flame alive.
Now, almost 40 years later, Cold Knife Records has brought this classic back to life. “Caught in the Trap” is being reissued in three stunning vinyl editions: Night Black, for those who cherish tradition; Blazing Orange, a fiery nod to the album’s spirit; and Frozen Sky Splatter, a striking design that mirrors the icy landscapes of the band’s Swedish homeland. Each edition features restored artwork and an inlay with all lyrics, offering fans a chance to fully immerse themselves in the world of Lynx.
This re-release is more than just an album – it’s a piece of heavy metal history brought back to the forefront. For longtime fans, it’s a chance to own this long-lost treasure in its most definitive form. For newcomers, it’s an invitation to discover a band that truly embodies the magic of 80s metal. If you live and breathe classic heavy metal, “Caught in the Trap” is a must-have. Eternal metal, timeless and electrifying!
